How to Find Blog Topics That Sell

As a blogger, finding topics to write about can be a daunting task. It’s easy to feel like you’ve covered everything there is to cover, or that no one will be interested in what you have to say. But fear not, my fellow bloggers! There are plenty of ways to come up with new and exciting topics for your blog, and we’re going to explore some of them in this article. And to keep things light and fun, we’re going to sprinkle in some humor along the way.

Understanding Your Audience

Before we dive into the nitty-gritty of topic generation, it’s important to understand your audience. Who are they? What are their interests? What problems do they face? What are their pain points? You want to create content that resonates with your readers and provides them with value.

But let’s be real for a moment. Sometimes, it’s hard to know what your audience wants. You could ask them, but then you run the risk of sounding desperate. So, what do you do? Well, fear not, my friends, for I have a solution. You know that friend who always tells it like it is, no matter how harsh? The one who’s never afraid to speak their mind? Yeah, that friend. Ask them. They’ll give you the honest feedback you need to improve your content.

Brainstorming Blog Topics

Another way to brainstorm topics is through keyword research. This can be a fun and creative process, but it can also be overwhelming. So, how do you come up with ideas that will keep your readers engaged and excited? Here are a few tips:

1. Use a Mind Map

A mind map is a visual tool that can help you brainstorm ideas by connecting related topics. Start with a central idea and branch out to related topics. For example, if your blog is about cooking, your central idea might be “recipes,” and you can branch out to topics like “healthy eating,” “meal planning,” “kitchen gadgets,” and so on.

2. Keep a Notebook

Carry a notebook with you at all times and jot down any ideas that come to mind. You never know when inspiration will strike, so it’s important to capture your ideas when they come.

3. Use a Blog Topic Generator

There are several blog topic generators that can help you generate ideas. Simply enter a keyword or phrase related to your niche, and the generator will suggest several blog topics. But be warned, some of these generators can be a bit ridiculous. For example, I entered “pet care” into one generator, and it suggested “10 ways to make your pet look like a celebrity.” While that might be entertaining, it’s probably not the most useful topic for your readers.

4. Use Google’s Auto-Suggest Feature

Google’s auto-suggest feature is a great way to get ideas for blog topics. Type a keyword or phrase related to your niche into the search bar, and Google will suggest several related queries that people are searching for. But beware, some of these suggestions can be a bit…odd. For example, I typed in “gardening,” and one suggestion was “can plants feel pain?” Um, I’m not sure that’s the direction we want to take our gardening blog.

5. Look at Competitors’ Blogs

Take a look at blogs in your niche and see what topics they are covering. Are there any gaps in their coverage that you could fill? Are there any topics that they haven’t covered in-depth that you could explore further? But don’t copy their content. That’s just not cool.

6. Look at Trending Topics

Keep up to date with the latest news and trends in your niche. Use tools like Google Trends or Buzzsumo to see what topics are trending and what people are talking about. But don’t just jump on the bandwagon and write about a trending topic just for the sake of it. Make sure it’s relevant to your audience and fits with your blog’s overall theme.

Keyword Research Tools

Now that you have some ideas for blog topics, it’s time to do some keyword research. Keyword research involves finding the right keywords and phrases to use in your content to help your blog rank higher in search engine results pages (SERPs). There are several keyword research tools available, but one of the most popular is SemRush.

SemRush is a powerful tool that can help you find the right keywords to use in your blog posts. Here are some tips on how to use SemRush to find blog topics:

1. Enter a Broad Keyword

Start by entering a broad keyword related to your niche into the search bar in SemRush. For example, if your blog is about fitness, you might enter “fitness” or “exercise.”

2. Look at Related Keywords

SemRush will generate a list of related keywords and phrases that people are searching for. Look for keywords that have a high search volume but low competition. These are the keywords you want to target in your blog posts.

3. Look at Competitors’ Keywords

Enter your competitors’ URLs into SemRush to see what keywords they are targeting. Look for gaps in their coverage that you can fill with your own content.

4. Look at Long-Tail Keywords

Long-tail keywords are phrases that contain three or more words. They may have a lower search volume, but they also have less competition. Use SemRush to find long-tail keywords that are relevant to your niche.

5. Use SemRush’s Content Analyzer

SemRush’s Content Analyzer can help you analyze your competitors’ content and see what keywords they are using. This can help you optimize your own content for those keywords and improve your search engine rankings.

Personality

Adding a bit of personality to your blog can help make it more engaging and entertaining. Humor is a great way to come across as engaging and personal. But be careful not to overdo it. You don’t want to come across as unprofessional or offensive. Here are some tips for using humor in your blog:

1. Be Witty

Add a witty comment or joke to your blog post to break up the text and keep your readers engaged. But make sure it’s relevant to your topic and doesn’t detract from the overall message of your post.

2. Use Funny Images or GIFs

Add a funny image or GIF to your blog post to help illustrate your point and add some humor. But make sure the image or GIF is relevant and doesn’t distract from your message.

3. Tell a Story

Tell a funny story or anecdote related to your topic to help engage your readers and add some humor. But make sure it’s relevant and doesn’t detract from your message.

Finding topics for your blog can be a challenge, but it doesn’t have to be. By understanding your audience, brainstorming ideas, and using keyword research tools like SemRush, you can generate a never-ending stream of blog topics that will keep your readers engaged and entertained. And don’t forget to add a bit of humor to your blog to keep things light and fun. Happy blogging!
